Britain’s Got Talent viewers were taken aback on Saturday night after an ’emotional’ performance brought the judges to tears.

It comes as Simon Cowell and his fellow judges – Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and KSI – returned to Blackpool for another round of auditions alongside iconic hosts Ant and Dec.

Last year, it was young magician Harry Moulding who won over the public vote and secured the big win as well as a place at the Royal Variety Show.

Now, thousands have auditioned for the hit ITV series with the hopes of performing in front of the Royal Family themselves and securing the £250,000 prize.

On Saturday, April 11, breast clinic nurse Joan Thomas, 56, soared through to the semi finals with four solid yes’s after performing a beautiful rendition of Pie Jesu.

Giving feedback after her audition, Alesha said: “It felt very pure,” Simon said: “It was a great audition. Very simple, beautifully sung.” And KSI said: “You should be so proud, and your family should be so proud.”

Ant and Dec told Joan that during her performance, you could have heard a pin drop in the room.

Viewers raced to social media after Joan’s performance.

Over on X, formerly Twitter, @2001joe_mendy said: “You could hear a pin drop. The whole auditorium feel silent during that performance.”

@CliveinEngland added: “All emotional now as we played this at my Mother’s funeral in February 2020.”

Britain’s Got Talent fan @HarleyHannah07 said: “Wow! She was amazing. Effortless.”, and @SocialMediaJon1 queried: “Hang on No golden buzzer for Joan?”

@blue_laur11 added: “Joan Thomas !! Wow that voice is beautiful not only are you nurse which for that alone you get a clap”

Elsewhere during the show on Saturday night, youth worker Ren DMC auditioned with his personal diss track about the judges which included throwing shade at Alesha for being a ‘Temu version of Spice Girls’, and roasted KSI for his boxing, acting and music.
