West Coast Eagles star Deven Robertson has been ruled out for the season with a ruptured ACL, the club have confirmed.

The forward, 24, went off in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 122-76 defeat to Geelong at Norwood Oval.

He had scans on his left knee on Monday, and has now received the devastating news that he will miss the remainder of the 2026 campaign.

Head of Football John Worsfold said:“Unfortunately, scans today confirmed Deven has ruptured his ACL and will miss the rest of the season.

“We’re incredibly disappointed for Dev. He has made a significant impact since joining the club last November and has been outstanding in the way he has gone about his football.

“He’s an ultimate professional, and we have no doubt he will attack his rehabilitation with the same commitment he brings every day. The Club will support him fully throughout his recovery.”

Robertson joined the Eagles from the Brisbane Lions — where he was named in the VFL Team of the Season in each of the last two seasons.

The defeat to Geelong was Robertson’s fourth appearance for the club — who finished bottom of the table last year with just one win from 23 games.

They have already improved on that record in 2026, claiming two victories in their opening five games.

But the loss of Robertson has concerned many Eagles fans.

Justin Anderson said: “I don’t normally believe in the supernatural but if someone told me that we are cursed I would completely believe them.”

Alex added: “We must have made some deal with the devil for 2018 because since then it’s been nothing but piles of bad luck on the injury front.”

While Taryn added: “Absolutely shattering news for Dev! He’d been such a great recruit for us this year. What a shame.”

And Bergo said: “Devastating news, another season ending way too soon.”

Next up for the Eagles is a clash with Fremantle in Perth on Sunday, before they head to Melbourne to take on St Kilda.
