Diane Hutchinson was left devastated on Hollyoaks following a surprising clash with Theresa McQueen, which came about after their respective children developed something of a romantic bond.
Diane was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer last month, with recent scenes seeing the beloved character decide to stop chemotherapy treatment in a bid to improve her quality of life in her remaining days.

Ant, her eldest child, has been struggling with the news, but has developed a connection with Kathleen-Angel, Theresa’s daughter. Ant and Kathleen-Angel recently slept together, with the Hutchinsons finding out last week.
In tonight’s episode of the Channel 4 soap, Diane and Tony prepared for Frankie Osborne’s leaving party, with Diane stressing that she wanted to make the most of the night and her remaining time with her family.
She also wanted to sort the situation with Ant and Kathleen-Angel, namely by making sure that he was treating her with respect following a previous storyline which saw him express misogynistic attitudes.
Theresa and Dodger Savage, meanwhile, were also getting ready for the party, though they were delayed as a worried Cleo returned home. She confessed that she killed Clare Devine, unaware that Sienna Blake was manipulating her to absolve her own guilt.
Theresa eventually made it to the party without Dodger, and came across Diane. The latter attempted to reach some common ground in the situation involving Ant and Kathleen-Angel, but Theresa was adamant that the pair shouldn’t be seeing each other.
She explained that she didn’t want her daughter to have an unplanned pregnancy, though Leela Lomax, who was stuck in the middle of the pair, said that such a situation would be unlikely.

Theresa inappropriately pointed out that Diane wouldn’t be there if it ever happened, though she immediately apologised for her careless and insensitive choice of words. Leela chastised her, and Theresa apologetically went home.
Diane, who was already upset after Darren’s words towards Frankie, looked devastated by Theresa’s remark. Theresa herself was upset when she returned home to see Dodger and Cleo getting close, but will she patch things up with Diane following her lapse in judgment?
