Brumbies and Wallabies second-row Nick Frost has revealed that he battled to get in and out of his car due to the effects of a gruelling 2025 campaign.

The 26-year-old has been a mainstay for club and country in recent years but was absent from the Brumbies’ squads for the first four matches of their 2026 Super Rugby Pacific campaign.

This, after he endured an arduous 2025 season in which he was regularly in the Brumbies and Australia’s starting line-ups.

Present in most of the Wallabies’ Tests

In the international arena, Frost was in action in 13 out of 15 of the Wallabies‘ Tests of which he played the full 80 minutes in 10 of those including the physically intense three-Test series against the British and Irish Lions.

He admitted that he was not ready to return to action with the Brumbies when their Super Rugby Pacific campaign kicked off earlier this year.

“Anything that involved bending my knees, so sitting up, standing, I just really struggled getting in and out of the car,” he told AAP.

“At the start, I wasn’t as keen as I thought I’d be to get back out there … I wasn’t moving well at all. So that put a damper on enjoying rugby and enjoying the training, because I kind of sucked.

‘I got the opportunity to work on my body’

“I’m lucky enough that I got the opportunity to work on my body, which I’m very thankful for.”

The 37-cap Wallaby also revealed that he put on some weight which came in handy at Test level but it was not so helpful in Super Rugby where the game is played at a much faster pace.

“I definitely felt slow in my mobility … and around the Argentina Test (in September), I really started feeling like my body wasn’t moving that well,” he said.

“It (playing) does add up after a while. It’s not the games. It’s honestly the training that eats away.”

Frost eventually made his return to action in the Brumbies’ run-on side in an away clash against the Fijian Drua last month and also started their next match against the Hurricanes as well as their most recent game against the Highlanders in Dunedin last Friday.
