Hey Subscribers,

It’s two days after Paris-Roubaix, and as we reported earlier this spring, this is one of the busiest periods in the transfer market. Teams know what they need for next year and which riders they want to move on from, so expect a frantic few weeks between now and the Giro d’Italia.

At this point, we can confirm that Visma-Lease a Bike’s engine room will retain two of its best assets, with Christophe Laporte and Edoardo Affini both set to sign new deals. I’ve heard that Affini’s contract might have been extended over the winter or at the very start of the season. Both riders were in the final years of their contracts, but team boss Richard Plugge has remained loyal to two riders who helped Wout van Aert secure a memorable win in Paris-Roubaix at the weekend.

Keeping both Affini and Laporte would leave Visma with perhaps just two or three free spots left on their roster for next year, and that’s without factoring in promotions from the U23 team.
