MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho men’s golf earned the 2024-25 Platform Golf Team Academic Presidents Special Recognition Award for achieving a team GPA higher than 3.5. The award was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America last week.
The Vandals achieved the honor for the third year in a row and have recognized as an All-Academic Team (3.0 GPA) for every season since 2019-20. Idaho is the only 2025-26 Big Sky Conference team to earn Presidents Special Recognition.
Four Vandals; Dalton Dean, Sam Johnson, Matt McGann and Joe Sykes, earned GCAA Scholar All-America honors to lead the way on the course and in the classroom.
“Proud of our guys continued success in the classroom,” head coach David Nuhn said. “This is a testament to who they are. Committed to excellence in everything we work at. The bar has been raised the past several years at Idaho golf, and each year the guys reach it. While this is a team award, special congrats to Matt, Dalton, Carter (Frisby), and Charley (Simpson), for achieving a 3.8+ GPA for the year.”
The Vandals begin prep for the 2025-26 season in late August and open the season at the Washington State Palouse Collegiate on September 9-10.
