The second instalment of the Gunnedah twilight women’s smash cricket series began under lights at Donnelly Fields last Friday night, following the first instalment in January.

While the same four teams were in each instalment, last Friday featured some new faces while 42 players were registered following 40 in January.

Having been unbeaten in January, the Namoi Ninjas maintained their winning form last Friday as they accounted for Peel Power.

Olivia Semmler and Leslee Finnerty captured two wickets each for Peel Power, but the batting from the Ninjas proved too strong.

Close friends Zoe Fleming and Marnee Walters produced a great partnership for the reigning premiers, with Zoe top-scoring with 34.

Mooki Maidens defeated Gwydir Girls in the other match, with Chelsea Budden the standout with the bat for the victors as her 24 runs came from four sixes.

Sally Keeler and Jodie Moore were the standout bowlers for Gwydir with two wickets apiece while Keeler also impressed with the bat.

One of the event organisers, Meleah Walters, said it was a great turnout while it was nice to see everyone laughing and having fun.

This Friday will feature more of a ‘muck around’ game due to the Gunnedah Show taking place, which will also result in the final night of the cricket schedule being pushed back to May 8.

Chelsea Budden, pictured during a twilight game back in January, clubbed four sixes last Friday.
