Latrell Mitchell scored four tries, Matt Dufty lit up the Accor Stadium turf in his first game back from a four year NRL absence yet they weren’t the biggest storyline of South Sydney’s dramatic 30-12 win over the Dragons.

St. George star Jaydn Su’A is looking at a massive suspension after being sent off for a brutal high shot on Cam Murray.
Su’A exploded out of the line like a cannon and hit Murray directly in the head. It had to be a send off. It’s the first send off since Round 22, 2024.
“It’s a miracle Murray got up unscathed,” Dan Ginnane said in commentary.

Matt Dufty returned to the top grade for the first time since 2022, ironically against the team he made 82 appearances for after debuting for the Red V in 2017. Dragons’ fans will wish he didn’t.
Having spent the last three seasons playing for Warrington in the Super League, Dufty did his best impersonation of the man he was replacing, injured star Jye Gray, scoring a slashing try and covering an enormous amount of ground with the ball.
Dufty ran for 180 metres in the first half and a further 114m in the second for a massive game total of 324m.
The Rabbitohs had a field day running down the left hand side of the field with Mitchell and Alex Johnson combining for five tries and terrorising veteran Valentine Holmes.
Mitchell crossed twice in each half, scoring some with speed, others with power, Holmes unable to combat either in a performance that was not befitting an international.
The Souths star had a whopping 14 tackle busts and four line breaks while Holmes missed 12 tackles.
Mitchell now has ten tries for the year and 16 in his last 11 games at Accor Stadium.
Souths’ performance was hardly one to write home about, but they did enough to win and take their record to 4-2 and a bye – and a place in the top four.

BIG HITS
Hip drops trending
A day after a hip drop tackle left Panthers’ hooker Mitch Kenny with a broken leg, a player from each side was put on report for the same offence.
Rabbitohs’ hooker Peter Mamouzelos was sin binned minutes before halftime for his foul on Dragons’ rookie winger David Fale, who was forced off the field, only to return later.
Earlier Dragons’ prop Emre Guler felt the wrath of referee Ziggy Przeklasa-Adamski for his stop on Brandon Smith, who was fortunately uninjured.
Guler was later placed on report for a late tackle on Jamie Humphreys too, but there didn’t seem to be much in it.
AJ’s house
Rabbitohs record breaker Alex Johnston celebrated his 100th appearance at Accor Stadium with his 98th try at the venue right on the stroke of halftime.
It was a dagger to the heart of the Dragons who were a man up following the sinbinning of Mamouzelos.
Smith shines
Rabbitohs’ utility Smith had his best performance in Souths’ colours, playing 55 minutes shared between hooker and in the middle.
Smith showed the versatility that he dined out on at Melbourne earlier in his career, providing punch up the middle when Mamouzelos came on at dummy half.
