The Los Angeles Lakers guard shot an elite 47.8 percent from deep, earning the league’s top spot and securing the unofficial 3-point shooting crown. It is the third time in his career that he has led the NBA in this category.
Kennard’s achievement did not go unnoticed inside the locker room. His teammates gave him a trophy to celebrate the milestone, showing how much his shooting meant for the team after joining midseason.
He arrived in February in a trade that sent Gabe Vincent to the Atlanta Hawks. At the time, the move looked minor, but it quickly turned into an important addition for the Lakers rotation.
Known as a pure shooter, Kennard once again proved why he is one of the best in the league. Even after the trade, he stayed efficient, shooting 44.8 percent from three with the Lakers and spacing the floor at a high level.
In the final stretch of the regular season, he recorded 32 assists over five games, showing he can create and make the right reads under pressure.
In 32 games with the Lakers, Kennard averaged 9.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 23 minutes per game while shooting 52.7 percent from the field.
