Justin Longmuir has laughed off West Coast’s derby banner that mocked the Fremantle coach’s lack of “fun” in his life.

Referencing Longmuir’s “there’s no fun in my life” joke from his club’s season launch last month, the Eagles sent a pointed message on Sunday.

“Dockers are purple, Eagles are gold and blue. We have fun in our lives, how about you?” the banner read.

But speaking after his side’s dominant 56-point win in Western Derby 62, Longmuir had the last laugh.

“(Laughs) I don’t get too caught up in that,” he said when asked about the banner jab.

“I’m having fun now because we won!

“I hope they’re having fun.

“I think the game gets built up a lot – that just creates more outside noise so my job as a coach is to keep bringing the players back to what’s important.

“We didn’t start the way we wanted to start … but we were able to work through the challenge of West Coast.

“I thought we won pretty comprehensively in the end.”

Fremantle held the Eagles goalless in the opening term, and were never challenged after half time.

“We came here and did what we have to do,” Longmuir said.

“Overall, we won every quarter.”

It was a mild-mannered Derby considering the history between the two teams, with little in the way of hostilities.

While admitting “we’ve got a bit of work to do on our game”, Longmuir was happy to come away with the four-points.

“We got away with a bit of wayward kicking from them in front of goal … our backline in particular is holding up really well,” he said.

The Dockers have now conceded just 10 combined goals in their past two wins to sit equal top of the table with Sydney and Hawthorn on five wins.

Fremantle are the only side in the AFL with five consecutive wins in the space of five weeks in promising signs for the side who experienced finals heartbreak in 2025.
