Bulldogs halves Tayla Preston and Ash Quinlan have received positive news on the injuries that saw their side finish with 12 players against the Warriors and are a chance of playing in Round 7.
Quinlan came from the field with hamstring problem in the 60th minute of the 34-6 loss to the Warriors but Bulldogs GM of football Phil Gould told 100% Footy that the move was merely precautionary.
Gould said Preston had suffered an MCL injury but was also a chance to play against the Cowboys on Sunday night.
The star playmaker got her leg tangled with Warriors forward Laishon Albert-Jones and appeared to be in tears as she was transported from the field on a medicab.
Bulldogs coach Brayden Williame said: “It was hard to watch, especially when you see them quite emotional out on the field. She was in a lot of pain”.Â
The Bulldogs did not replace Preston and played the remainder minutes of the match with just 12 players, although Williame said the decision to leave Quinlan on the sideline was precautionary.Â
Prop Tegan Dymock has suffered a syndesmosis injury and won’t play again this year while Paea Uilou also watched the end of the match from the sideline.
“It was a bit of mayhem,” Williame said. “In terms of severity we don’t know yet so I won’t comment on that, but it could be an exciting opportunity for some of our young girls to see where they are at and get a good look at our depth.
Dymock, who was recalled to the Bulldogs side after being dropped for Magic Round, came from the field in the 22nd minute and returned to the sideline after half-time on crutches.
The Titans lost star fullback Jaime Chapman to an ankle injury during their match with the Roosters on Sunday.Â
Chapman was assisted from the field in the 50th minute of the Round 6 clash after an awkward tackle involving Amber Hall and Tarryn Aiken. Â
She will undergo scans to determine the extent of the injury.
The news came after the Gold Coast also lost five-eighth Pauline
Piliae-Rasabale earlier in the match to a suspected hamstring injury.
Titans coach Karyn Murphy said both players are facing stints on the sidelines.Â
“Pauline did her hamstring just there on half-time,” Murphy said. “With hamstrings you’ve got to see how bad that one is. It’s probably a few weeks there.Â
“Chappo’s done her ankle. She’s in a boot and will have scans to see how bad it is.”
Meanwhile, Raiders winger Madison Bartlett left the field in the early stages of her side’s clash with the Broncos on Sunday with a suspected collarbone injury. The outside back will also be sent for scans.
Titans rookie Lily Patston is facing an extended stint on the sidelines after suffering a fractured fibula at Magic Round.
The winger also injured her syndesmosis in the incident and will have surgery on Friday to repair the damage, effectively ending her season.
The Roosters have received a major boost with Tavarna Papalii returning from a fractured jaw via the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership on Saturday.
Parramatta duo Cassey Tohi-Hiku and Rory Owen are also facing extended stints on the sidelines after suffering injuries in the final game of Magic Round.Â
Tohi-Hiku suffered a syndesmosis injury, while Owen has a fractured fibula and syndesmosis injury. Kennedy Cherrington will also sit out this week’s clash with the Cowboys after being placed in the concussion protocol.Â
The Dragons were forced to recall veteran Maddie Studdon as they battled a heavy injury toll in the lead-up to Saturday’s match against Cronulla.Â
Emerging outside back Margot Vella has been ruled out for the season with an ACL injury, while Trinity Tauaneai (shoulder), Nita Maynard-Perrin (knee), Alice Gregory (finger) and Raecene McGregor (suspension) all missed the game at Jubilee Stadium.
The Broncos went into Round 6 without Bree Spreadborough, who suffered an ankle injury against the Sharks at Magic Round but they did welcome back Queensland centre Shenae Ciesiolka from a knee injury suffered during the State of Origin series.Â
