Platinum Asset Management’s largest equities funds have been lagging the market for the best part of a decade, but the firm is banking on large bets in technology and healthcare stocks along with a bullish call on South Korea to lift performance.
Platinum’s flagship $3.5 billion International Fund has returned just 4.3 per cent this year compared to the MSCI All Country World Index’s 7.3 per cent advance. Over one year, the difference is more stark with a 3.8 per cent return versus the benchmark’s 17.5 per cent, and it’s not that much better over three and five years.
