His TV canon is largely short-lived runs, but Mick Molloy is hoping Celebrity Intervention will resonate with viewers.

“I’m a little over excited about tonight, but we’ll all feel a lot better once we’ve pushed it out to sea!”

So says Mick Molloy ahead of tonight’s premiere of Glenn & Mick’s Celebrity Intervention.

The series gets a prime 7:30 slot from Seven, with first guest Carrie Bickmore, gently given a roasting by mates including Kate Langbroek and co.

Fingers crossed for Molloy that the 8 episodes may lead to more … given the brevity of some of his now infamous TV interventions.

“Eight episodes is a magic number for me, because most of my series don’t go beyond eight episodes. There’s two in the past. The Mick Molloy Show, I think, was eight episodes,” he recalls.

“The second one, The Nation, which I really liked by the way, was a pretty good show. I always say went for 8. But it didn’t… it got moved from 9:30 Monday. Look, it batted on. I can’t remember. It’s very hard memories for me!

“This could be, if we get a second series, my only hit apart from Front Bar.”

Glenn & Mick’s Celebrity Intervention screens 7:30pm tonight on Seven.
