DENVER, Colo. – Millbury native Ryan Ward made his long-awaited MLB debut at Coors Field on Sunday as a member of the Dodgers.

Ward spent the last seven years in the Los Angeles minor league system.

The 28-year-old played first base, going 2 for 5 with an RBI.

His family was at home when they first got the news but got to see him play in person for his first big league game.

“My wife was jumping up and down,” Ward’s father said. “I was more numb, like, ‘Oh my God, this is really happening.'”

“Mom, were there tears?”

“Yes,” Ward’s mother said, “yes, of course.”
