A magnitude-6 earthquake has struck in the water off Indonesia’s Timor island, the country’s geophysics agency said.
The epicentre was at a depth of 31 kilometres, the agency said, adding there was no tsunami risk from the quake.
The quake hit at 11:17am local time on Tuesday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.
Its report said the exact magnitude, epicentre and depth may be revised within the next few hours.
Seismologists continue to review the data from the earthquake.
Based on preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people, according to tracking site VolcanoDiscovery.
