Murray State women’s golf secured the first Missouri Valley Conference Title in Program history on Tuesday at TPC Deere Run in SIlvis, Illinois. In spectacular fashion, the Racers overcame a 12-stroke deficit throughout the final round to take the team championship by one stroke, outpacing Bradley.Â
MSU fired a 304+318+301=923 across the 54-hole tournament. The final round 301 was 10-strokes better than the next closest team score for the round.Â
Elin Tynan and Ella Scherer paced the Racers, each finishing tied for fifth individually at 15-over par for the week. Patti Patterson, Tina Von Arx, and Katherine Weir all finished inside the top 20 of the field.Â
The title marks Murray State’s first women’s golf championship since 2019 and marks the program’s 13th conference championship in it’s 33-year history. This gives Head Coach Phillip Nelson his first title in his four-year tenure at MSU.
NCAAÂ regionals will be contested May 11-13 across six host sites with 12 teams at each site.
