Two of Australia’s biggest concrete suppliers will double fuel surcharges on May 1, in the latest round of price increases facing home builders, as a report by Barrenjoey warns that inflation rates for new houses and renovations will be running at close to 6 per cent by September.
Builders say they are already absorbing cost increases across a new home or renovation project of up to 8 per cent since the war in the Middle East sent fuel prices rocketing.
