A UFC legend believes former heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar would get the upper hand on Jon Jones if they met in an RAF wrestling match.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones remains at odds with the promotional brass over his exclusion from the upcoming White House card. After last-minute negotiations between Jones and the matchmakers fizzled, Jones publicly asked for his release and has traded barbs with UFC CEO Dana White.

Jones is considered one of, if not the greatest, fighters in UFC history. He’s one of several UFC stars to win titles in multiple divisions.

Long before Jones made the full-time move to heavyweight, he was linked to a potential showdown with former UFC heavyweight champ and WWE legend Brock Lesnar. But a fight never materialized after Lesnar’s UFC return at UFC 200, and a potential matchup between them in the cage is highly unlikely.

There’s still another route to a potential Jones vs. Lesnar showdown in the upstart Real American Freestyle wrestling promotion. If the matchup were to come to fruition on the mats, one UFC legend believes Lesnar would get the upper hand.

Kamaru Usman sides with Brock Lesnar over Jon Jones in hypothetical wrestling match

In a recent episode of the Pound 4 Pound podcast, former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman was asked to predict a hypothetical Lesnar vs. Jones wrestling match in Real American Freestyle.

“This is an outrageous question…who would win? Hypthetically, I would say the sheer size of Brock Lesnar and the way he wrestled,” Usman said of Lesnar vs. Jones.

“Brock Lesnar wasn’t necessarily a guy ripping shots all the time, but he could wear guys down…Brock would be a bit more offensive, and trying to get a guy of that size down multiple times? I just don’t see it.

“I think Brock Lesnar potentially [wins].”

Lesnar won gold at the 2000 NCAA Division I wrestling national championship at the University of Minnesota. Before transitioning to Mixed Martial Arts, Jones was a decorated wrestler, winning titles at Iowa Central Community College.
