Jaxon Purdue started the move with a great line break.
It put the Cowboys in an attacking position.
Hooker Reed Mahoney went very close to scoring, brought down one metre from the line.
The Cowboys go to the left, where the Sharks’ defence is not set.
Murray Taulagi, standing at centre rather than the wing, charges onto a flat pass and breaks two would-be tackles to score.

25′ Cowboys and Sharks going set for set
We had four tries in the opening 15 minutes.
As fatigue sets in, the scoring has dried up.
The Cowboys and Sharks have gone set for set for 10 minutes.
The big forwards look very tired in the middle of the field — hard to blame them.

15′ TRY: Murray Taulagi scores for the Cowboys
Cowboys left winger Murray Taulagi has scored in the corner.
It was too easy for the Cowboys.
It started with a play-the-ball in the centre of the field, and the Cowboys went to the left.
It was a simple play through the hands, and Taulagi touched down in the corner.

12′ TRY: Siosifa Talakai scores a double
Cronulla have just run through the middle of the Cowboys’ defence and Siosifa Talakai has a double.
It started with a strong run from Addin Fonua-Blake, who had a quick-play-the-ball on Cronulla’s 40-metre line.
Hooker Blayke Brailey ran from dummy-half and got an offload to Nicho Hynes, who made the line break.
Hynes passed to fullback Will Kennedy, who continues the run, then passes to his right, where there is space.
Second-rower Billy Burns runs and draws in the last Cowboy defender, then passes to Talakai for the try.

10′ TRY: Siosifa Talakai scores for the Sharks
Cronulla centre Siosifa Talakai has the first try for the Sharks.
The Sharks started the set on their own 30-metre line, and a six-again restart gave them the chance to attack North Queensland’s goal-line.
Talakai received a pass from Nicho Hynes near the line, and the big centre beat one defender and carried another to the goal-line.

8′ NO TRY: Knock-on denies Sharks
Sharks second-rower Billy Burns has grounded the footy and has claimed a try.
Ref Belinda Sharpe has sent it to the Bunker as a no try.
Cronulla halfback Nicho Hynes put up an attacking kick to the centre of the field.
There was a contest in the air between Teig Wilton (Sharks) and Braidon Burns (Cowboys).
Wilton taps the ball back, and then Scott Drinkwater (Cowboys) and Addin Fonua-Blake (Sharks) compete for the ball.
Fonua-Blake knocked the ball forward.
Sharpe’s initial ruling was correct.

Cowboys coach Todd Payten is thrilled to have big names back
North Queensland have been boosted by the return of a trio of key players.
Reed Mahoney and Murray Taulagi are back from head knocks, but the big return is Jeremiah Nanai.
This will be the first match for the Queensland Origin rep this season, after having shoulder surgery in the off-season.
Speaking to Fox League, Cowboys coach Todd Payten says the team just needs Nanai to do his job well this evening.
“Very good player, really important to what we do,” Payten said of Nanai.
“He’s a real threat for us. He’s put in the hard work in the rehab space … we don’t expect him to be a world-beater tonight.”

‘Leave women out of it’: Starling calls out vile comments on social media
Canberra Raiders hooker Tom Starling has called out a social media troll who sent several disgusting messages on social media.
Starling was involved in a post-match scuffle with Tigers winger Sunia Turuva, with the pair needing to be separated.
(Fox Sports)
It was a sour end to the evening, but Starling has now called out vile abuse directed at him on social media.
Starling posted the messages on Instagram, where the user threatened him with violence and called him several unsavoury names.
But the worst of the messages was the final comment, when the user also threatened to assault Starling’s partner.
“Say what you want about the players, leave women out of it, don’t be this guy,” Starling wrote on his Instagram story, calling out the vile behaviour.
If you want to see Starling’s Instagram story, it is linked out in this post.

The Brisbane Broncos unavailable XIII
The reigning premiers have not had any luck on the injury front in the opening eight rounds of the NRL season.
Coming into tonight’s match, we knew Brisbane would be without starting fullback Reece Walsh, back-up fullback Jesse Arthars, starting centre Kotoni Staggs, and starting middle forwards Payne Haas, Corey Jensen and Pat Carrigan.
Brisbane’s injury toll is so large that you can make a starting side out of the players who are unavailable tonight.
No joke. You can make a full team, in correct positions, of Brisbane players who are out tonight.
