Craig Bellamy has made a huge declaration after the Storm’s 48-6 loss to the Rabbitohs, revealing he is “the most embarrassed I’ve ever been in my footy life”.

Melbourne slumped to a sixth-straight defeat at AAMI Park on ANZAC Day in a clash that saw Bellamy’s outfit slump to a 25-year low.

Not only did the Rabbitohs win their first ever game at Melbourne’s home ground in 28 years, but the Storm haven’t loss that many games in-a-row since 2002.

Bellamy was captured in the coach’s box incensed throughout the clash after his side failed to capitalise on scoring opportunities or when Souths ran in one of nine tries.

And he cut a frustrated figure in the post-match press conference, delivering a host of reality checks to his team when asked if the loss hurts.

“Yeah, it does. Probably the most embarrassed I’ve ever been in my footy life to be quite honest,” Bellamy said.

“To play like that tonight and again, there’s obviously a few things that the off-field staff is doing wrong and I’m included in that. So obviously it ain’t doing my job as well as I should.

“And to come up with a performance like that, the opposition played really well, but to come up with a performance like that and a lack of effort like that on Anzac Day is embarrassing.

“It’s embarrassing and I can’t really say too much more than that…. at the end of the day some of those losses are probably four points or whatever.

“Sometimes that’s a bit unlucky but as I say, it was downright embarrassing tonight.”

Bellamy also admitted over his team’s run of six losses, no changes had been made to the team — which will change heading into Round 9.

“Yeah, we might have to go down a little bit further to be quite honest,” he said of the trajectory of his team.

“At the end of the day I’ve stuck with basically the same side the last six weeks. I think it’s time to make some changes.”

As for skipper Harry Grant, he was confident he had the “buy in” of his playing group despite the lacklustre performances being delivered on the field.

And in typical Bellamy fashion, the veteran coach pointed the finger back on himself and questioned where he stands with his players.

“Yeah I think so, I think it’s just combination wise we probably (have) a little bit of teething sort of early in the year and some bits of player movement in that sense,” Grant said.

“Some injuries and yeah… that’s not an excuse it’s just you know in moments in games we’ve just been a little bit off, just a tiny bit off and that’s all it has to be at this level.

“And the level of consistency across the teams that everyone can sort of turn up and play a good game of footy if they’ve got their mind right and at the moment that’s what we’re coming up against every week.

“We just need to find that next gear and really create our own luck and compete for those moments to go our way.”

Bellamy was then asked if he had the “buy in” of his team, to which he responded: “Yeah, that’s a good point, I might not have”.

Which prompted Grant to jump in and silence that suggestion, hitting back at the question by saying: “Yeah he does, that’s a silly question. You don’t need to ask him that.

“He’s a modest guy and he’s probably going to look to himself for these results but at the end of the day, no one works harder than Craig. No one works harder than Craig.

“You come into the club every morning and he’s in here working.”
