Brisbane has flexed its muscles in a domination of Adelaide at the Gabba and ominous reminder to the rest of the competition.

Zac Bailey (29 touches, three goals) and Lachie Neale (42 disposals) were influential as the Lions blew away the Crows with a seven-goal third quarter en route to the 52-point victory, 19.13 (127) to 11.9 (75).

There were emotional scenes post-match as Lions players and officials all got around Crows skipper Jordan Dawson, who returned to the field after the tragic passing of his brother.

“The love he has been given from the whole football community. That’s a lovely sight from Chris Fagan,” Fox Footy caller Anthony Hudson said post-match.

“Took a huge effort for him to get to the footy last week and to play again today and produce the performance he did.

“Incredible from the Adelaide captain.”

The win saw Brisbane improve to 4-3 and now sit just a game outside the top four ahead of Marvel Stadium clash with Essendon.

Meanwhile the Crows fell to 3-4 as they prepare for an intriguing Showdown with Port Adelaide next week.

3. ‘BREATHTAKING’ LIONS’ BIG FLEX

A fair old flex from the Lions at their home fortress.

After they’d been below their best in recent weeks including a shock loss to Melbourne at the Melbourne in Round 6, Brisbane got back to some of its best in a scary reminder to the rest of the competition.

The Lions stacked on four goals to close the first half and never looked back from that point including a dominant seven-major third term.

“What we’re seeing with the very good teams … they’re able to capitalise when they get momentum,” Saints great Nick Dal Santo said at half-time.

“It’s breathtaking, it happens in the blink of an eye and it almost happens out of nowhere.”

The home side’s midfield got to work to dominate contested possessions (+22) and inside 50 territory (+21), while it was scoring at will went it went inside 50.

Brisbane was playing all the hits including its star midfield, led by Lachie Neale, Josh Dunkley and the Ashcroft brothers firing, while Zac Bailey and Charlie Cameron combined for seven goals up forward.

“It’s been a dominant display… (Chris Fagan) wasn’t happy at all with the way his players went about it in recent weeks,” Lions champion Alastair Lynch said.

“It’s been a clinic pretty much after quarter time.

“The way they’ve got clearances sorted out, contested ball a massive discrepancy.

“Their usual names like Lachie Neale, Will Ashcroft, Levi Ashroft getting involved.”

Lynch noted that recruits Sam Draper and Oscar Allen were really starting to find their feet, while their stars returning from injury had meshed back in with aplomb.

“The most pleasing aspect from the fan’s point of view is they’re seeing the likes of Sam Draper come into this squad and make a huge difference,” the Lions great added.

“Oscar Allen over recent weeks has been a focal point up forward as well.

“We tend to forget about Linc McCarthy having two years on the sidelines with a couple of ACLs. Keidean Coleman has slotted beautifully back in after not playing for a couple of years.”

2. EMOTIONAL SCENES IN DAWSON’S RETURN

Jordan Dawson made an emotional return to the field on Sunday after the tragic passing of his brother.

Dawson was one of Adelaide’s best with 28 disposals and two goals as he did just about everything he could to inspire his side.

It included a goal in the second term assisted by Taylor Walker as Dawson kissed his black armband in an emotional moment between the two.

“It’s a fantastic moment, well done to Tex Walker. He understands the situation, the opportunity to be selfless, to give one to the skipper,” Saints great Nick Dal Santo said.

“That says a lot, it speaks about how much people are loved within football clubs and how special places and people can be within those four walls.”

Dawson was overcome with emotion post-match as Brisbane players and coach Chris Fagan showed their support to the 29-year old.

“It’s emotional for Jordan Dawson to be back out there playing after the trauma he has gone through,” Fox Footy caller Anthony Hudson said.

“The love he has been given rom the whole football community. That’s a lovely sight from Chris Fagan.

“Took a huge effort for him to get to the footy last week and to play again today and produce the performance he did.

“Incredible from Adelaide captain.”

Lions star Zac Bailey added: “He’s obviously been going through a bit of a tough time at the moment.

“I think the AFL world does a pretty good job of getting around people like that and you can see that right now with the way they’re embracing him.”

1. ‘LIT IT UP’: CHARLIE BOUNCES BACK TO HIS BEST

After a “disappointing” 2025, at least by his standards, Charlie Cameron is back to his best.

Theveteran small forward kicked four goals against his old sideon Sunday to continue his strong campaign as the Lions’ leading goalkicker.

It takes Cameron’s season tally to 16 majors — half of his entire return from last season.

And not only is ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ getting a good run around the Gabba again, Cameron is generally playing with more energy and excitement.

“Charlie Cameron just lit it up. He’s been in some really good touch this year,” Lions great Alastair Lynch said.

“Probably came off a disappointing year last season. But with the faith put in him from Chris Fagan (he’s bounced back).

“This is what we want to see from Charlie Cameron – and we did see it most of last year, even though he wasn’t hitting the scoreboard.

“He’s getting up behind the ball and looking very dangerous when he runs into space.

“You just can’t catch him when he gets north of the ball.

“Chris Fagan would be rapt with what his star forward and ex-Adelaide player is doing today.”
