The NFL Draft remains the second-biggest event in the NFL calendar behind the Super Bowl. Like it or not, it also remains one of the biggest things that fans and media enjoy going back and analyzing to see “what could have been.”
Pro Football Focus has done a good job this offseason by starting a re-draft series that we have been tracking here on Vikings Wire. In their latest draft, they looked back on it, and it just so happens to be one of the more impactful ones in recent memory for the Minnesota Vikings franchise: The 2020 NFL Draft.

The team landed franchise legend, and can we say already future Hall of Famer? Justin Jefferson. In this exercise, he does not make it to the Vikings pick but instead heads to division rival Detroit Lions.
PFF’s Trevor Sikkema writes, “The Lions badly needed help at wide receiver in 2020, with none of their wideouts posting even a 75.0 PFF overall grade that season. Detroit is able to nab arguably the best receiver in football here in Jefferson. His 7,432 receiving yards in his first five seasons are 648 more than any other receiver in NFL history. Jefferson’s 93.6 PFF overall grade since he was drafted is also the best of any receiver in the league.”
Talk about a nightmare scenario for Vikings fans. In this reality, they never knew what they had, but for those who enjoy having the best wide receiver in the NFL playing for them rather than against them, this isn’t the best feeling.
