The trailer for the fifth and final Jackass film was released today – and our beloved pranksters are gearing up for one last unhinged hurrah. It’s all on-brand really, because they started years ago with a bang and they’re going out with a bang.
Jackass: Best and Last comes 26 years after the program originally premiered as an MTV reality show in 2000 – and fans are both crying and laughing at the hilarious yet nostalgic trailer that features both old and new stunts from Johnny Knoxville and co.
“I’m like actually sobbing over the jackass trailer,” one fan tweeted on X, as another echoed, “Got emotional watching the jackass trailer man.”
“The last time I was this positive that I was going to cry in a movie was Up,” one user added, referencing the tear-jerking Pixar animation.
“Doing it as like half new film, half retrospective documentary is gna rock but also absolutely emotionally devastate me,” another tweeted.
In the new film, Knoxville and fellow OG stars Bam Margera, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Jason “Wee Man” Acuña and more revisit their greatest hits and stupidest stunts ever, while also unleashing more pain and mayhem for one last time.
“Featuring all-new stunts and stupidity along with the greatest hits and biggest laughs from the past, jackass: best and last is a joyously raucous celebration of all the mischievous camaraderie that you’ve come to love and expect from these idiots over the past 25 years,” reads the synopsis from Paramount Pictures.
“So, grab your dumb little buddies, raise your glasses, and come experience the cinematic event that promises to be the last time you’ll ever laugh this hard in a theatre.”
No one is more excited for the film’s release than Knoxville, who wrote on Instagram, “Heck yeah here we go with the trailer for Jackass: Best and Last!!! Yes it’s our final one and a love letter to you the fans. June 26th. Let’s go!!!!”
The final instalment is just as reckless as ever as the cast proceed to electrocute private parts, undergo prostate exams with a humanoid robot, enter an “escape room from hell”, and get slingshotted from portable toilets – much to the delight of diehard fans.
“I watched the new jackass trailer and personally I think it gets even funnier as they visibly age these are grey 50 year old men hitting each other in the balls now,” one fan tweeted on X.
