The latest installment of Davis’ brainchild on TBS saw Flagg caught in the middle of a rocky marriage during what he thought to be a rookie symposium. Turns out, it was just a ruse of Davis’ creation.
The kicker? It wasn’t just Davis in on the act — the former Maverick had help setting Flagg up from Dallas head coach Jason Kidd and from none other than Cooper’s mother, Kelly Flagg. That’s along with a trio of actors, whom Flagg didn’t know to be actors, playing out the awkward scene.
In it, Flagg steps into an HR symposium run by co-CEOs Dave and Ryan, who happen to be a married couple. Only they don’t appear to be an outwardly happy couple — not in the slightest. The two bicker in front of Flagg with progressive intensity, leaving the Mavericks rookie sitting awkwardly watching the two sides go back and forth.
Eventually Ryan storms out, leaving Dave at his wits’ end and seeking marriage advice from the confused Flagg, who, as a reminder, is 20 years old and has never been married.
“Maybe you could just give her some space?” Flagg suggests rather meekly.
Davis, who’s also targeted sports stars like Draymond Green and Robert Griffin III with his show, finally entered the room to let Flagg off the hook right about the time Dave and Ryan were demanding which of their sides Cooper was going to take. Davis and Flagg, who were teammates in Dallas for half a season before Davis was traded, shared a laugh and a friendly embrace afterward, with the relief clear on Flagg’s face.
