Rotorua Boys’ High School and Feilding High School have retained their unbeaten records at the 2026 Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament in Japan after second-round matches overnight.

Feilding High made it two wins from two with a meritorious 17-14 win over recently crowned Japanese champions Higashi Fukuoka High School, while
Rotorua grafted to a 12-12 draw against a resilient Saga Technical High School team.

Meanwhile, in girls sevens, Manawatū’s Manukura School ran riot with a 29-0 win over Canada’s Queen Margaret’s School, a result which keeps them in the running for fifth place.

Feilding’s contest against Higashi Fukuoka was the feature match of the day at the Global Arena in Fukuoka and a big test for “The Aggies”.

But they were inspired by hearing a waiata from the supporting Manukura girls sevens reverberating around the venue, almost drowning out the home Higashi Fukuoka High cheer squad.
