1967.- Japan’s Paul Fuji delivered a spectacular display of power by knocking out Italy’s Sandro Lopopolo in just 2 rounds in Tokyo, Japan, capturing the WBC World Super Light title and cementing his status as a historic figure in Japanese pugilism.
1971.- Filipino star Erbito Salavarria successfully defended his WBC Flyweight title by defeating Japan’s Susumu Hanagata via decision in a high-intensity bout held in Manila, Philippines, where the champion’s speed proved to be the key to victory.
1976.- The legendary Muhammad Ali retained his WBC Heavyweight crown by defeating Jimmy Young by decision in Landover, Maryland, in a contest where Ali had to rely on all of his experience to overcome the challenger’s tricky defensive style.
1988.- At the iconic Plaza de Toros in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia’s Miguel “Happy” Lora provided an exhibition of technique and elegance to retain his WBC Bantamweight title, defeating Argentina’s Lucio López by decision before a jubilant home crowd.
2010.- Mexico’s Fernando ”Kochulito” Montiel starred in one of the most memorable victories for Mexico in Asia by capturing the WBC Bantamweight title, after ruthlessly knocking out the solid Japanese champion Hozumi Hasegawa in the fourth round in Tokyo.
2010.- On that same historic night in Tokyo, Japan, Toshiaki Nishioka reaffirmed his elite status by knocking out the Philippines’ Balweg Bangoyan in the fifth round, successfully defending his WBC Super Bantamweight title with a dominant offensive display.
2011.- In an authentic “civil war” between Mexican warriors, Adrián “Confesor” Hernández captured the WBC Light Flyweight title by knocking out Gilberto Keb Baas in 11 rounds, during a drama-filled duel held in Texcoco, State of Mexico.
2022.- American Shakur Stevenson established himself as a global star by capturing the WBC Super Featherweight title, defeating Mexico’s Óscar Valdez by decision in a unification bout, showcasing a nearly impenetrable defense in Las Vegas, Nevada.
