Former Alabama receiver signs his first NFL contract

Sixth-round selection Malik Benson joined six other new teammates in signing his first NFL contract on Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders announced.

The Raiders acquired the Oregon wide receiver with the 195th selection in the 91st NFL Draft on Saturday.

Benson played at four schools in five seasons on his way to the NFL, including Alabama in 2023. Benson had 13 receptions for 162 yards and one touchdown in 14 games, with six starts, for the Crimson Tide.

Benson came to Alabama after two seasons at Hutchinson Community College. He left the Crimson Tide for Florida State before completing his college career at Oregon in 2025.

Benson had 43 receptions for 719 yards and six touchdowns and nine punt returns for a 17.9-yard average and one touchdown for the Ducks.

Benson signed a four-year contract worth $4.523 million, including a signing bonus of $277,731, which is the guaranteed portion of the deal.

Benson is the first of the 28 prospects picked in the draft last week who played at an Alabama high school and college to sign his contract.

Benson will join Las Vegas’ rookie class at rookie minicamp Friday through Sunday.

The Raiders drafted 10 players. Among the three who didn’t sign on Thursday was Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, the first player picked in the draft, and Auburn linebacker Keyron Crawford, a third-round selection.
