Nikola Jokic is committed — and inclined to sign a contract extension — with the Nuggets after their disappointing first-round exit in the 2026 NBA Playoffs.

As he was asked about his looming contract extension decision after the Nuggets’ 110-98 loss in Game 6 of their first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jokic made his stance clear that he desires nothing but to stay in Denver.
“I still want to be a Nugget forever,” he told reporters Thursday.
Jokic is currently under contract through 2026–27, with a $62.8 million player option for the 2027–28 season.
He notably passed up the opportunity to sign a contract extension last summer. By doing so, the Serbian superstar will be eligible for a staggering payday this upcoming offseason.
From a three-year, $212 million offer he was eligible for in 2025, Jokic has a chance to net a much more significant amount. The big man could boost the value of that extension by around $80 million.
The three-time MVP delivered another phenomenal season, averaging a triple-double for the second consecutive year with 27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds and 10.7 assists.
However, he and the Nuggets’ first-round exit against the Wolves raise significant concerns about their contention possibilities moving forward. After winning it all in 2023, Jokic and the Nuggets have never reached at least the Conference Finals ever since.
In the wake of the looming extension for both sides, a big summer certainly awaits Jokic and the Denver franchise.
