Famed couch discussions are about to undergo a major overhaul.
For 19 years TV Tonight has featured a TV Lounge section….
That place where you can leave comments for subjects not covered elsewhere on the site.
But change is ahead…
It’s been a popular destination for conversation, debate and discussion with literally tens of thousands of comments.
These are published chronologically from newest to oldest, which is not especially practical for following or finding information. It can be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Soon a standard Forum with topics and threads will take its place, making conversations easier to find.
I always felt the excellent MediaSpy led in this area, so it was one I did not seek to replicate… but in 2026 it’s just no longer practical to publish a never-ending list of comments.
Before design is finalised I’m seeking your feedback on the Forum basics, which I am proposing as:
Free to Air (Sub headings: ABC, Seven, Nine, 10, SBS / topics)
Subscription (Streamers, Foxtel / topics)
Miscellaneous (other topics)
When the Forum is introduced all current discussions in the TV Lounge will also be removed, so please aim to conclude those soon.
Change is never easy (and risks teething problems) but ultimately I believe long-term it will aid discussions and archiving.
