DISC golf is set to arrive at the Maleny Precinct, with a new three-hole course being developed in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Disc Golf Club and the Maleny District Sport and Recreation Council (MDSRC).

The innovative setup will offer locals and visitors a fun, accessible way to get active in the open spaces of the precinct.

MDSRC representative Greg Williams said the new offering would add a fresh dimension to community sport at the venue.

“We’ve been working with the Sunshine Coast Disc Golf Club, and they’ve provided us with three full disc golf setups and around a dozen discs,” Mr Williams said. “We’re going to set them up on our licensed area so people can come and play disc golf as a new sport that’s available here.”

Mr Williams said disc golf was designed to be easy to pick up and enjoy. “It’s a fun little game. If you can throw a Frisbee, you can do it,” he said. “There are three types of discs; one for short distance, one for medium, and one for long distance and each has a different throwing style.”
