US talk show host Jimmy Fallon left fans astonished after biting F1 legend Martin Brundle’s microphone during his live gridwalk at the Miami Grand Prix.
Former driver Brundle regularly goes viral on social media for his pre-race stroll down the pit straight as he bumps into a variety of famous faces.
On Monday morning (AEST), one of those celebrities was late night presenter Fallon, 51.
But the moment between the two took a rather strange turn — and sparked quite the reaction online.
An excited Fallon reacted to Brundle by asking: “Can I get anything for you?”
To which the legendary F1 pundit responded: “I need some funny lines. I need everything. A cup of British tea.”
Fallon then cut Brundle short by grabbing the Sky Sports mic and bizarrely biting off the foam windscreen.
He then gave it back and added: “What are we doing here?,” while Brundle joked: “You can keep that if you like.”
Reacting to the moment, social media user Lucky Rebel said: “No, that wasn’t a fever dream. Jimmy Fallon just tried to eat Martin Brundle’s mic cover.”
While Matthew replied: “He is so f***ing odd.”
Coolrillaman added: “Brundle did NOT like that.”
And That Guy said: “He’s rather embarrassing…”
After the strange viral moment, Brundle went on to ask Fallon whether it was his first Miami GP.
To which he replied: “First time here, it’s nuts. Crazy, I’m loving it. Miami has been a great host – I’m going for Red Bull (to win).
“I’ve been here hanging out, good people, good restaurants, good fun, it’s loud and exciting.
“I’m so happy to see you, this is the highlight right here.”
Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli won the race to his lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship to 20 points.
Defending champion Lando Norris secured his first podium of the season with a second-place finish, while McLaren teammate Australian Oscar Piastri rounded off the podium.
Antonelli’s teammate George Russell could only manage fourth ahead of four-time champion Max Verstappen.
