Joshua is currently training with Golub alongside Oleksandr Usyk, the fighter who twice defeated him, as part of his preparation for a planned return to the ring.

Looking ahead to a potential clash with Fury, Garcia said Joshua’s chances depend on his condition going into the fight.

“If AJ is mentally ready, I think that AJ has the skills and the power to win. He has the right-hand to knock him out, but he has got to be mentally and physically 100%. Physically, I know that he is always ready, AJ is always in shape,” said Robert Garcia to ESNEWS.

“He trains hard, he was dedicated when I was with him for a few months, but Fury is a street guy. He doesn’t give a f**k. He could come in heavy, fat, but he is still going to give a good fight.”

Garcia said that the opening for Joshua will come down to timing and accuracy.

“[With] that right-hand, if AJ lands, he will knock him out cold. And he gets hit with a lot of right hands,” said Robert.

Joshua last fought in December 2025, stopping Jake Paul in six rounds in his first bout under Golub. He has been out of the ring since following a car accident in Nigeria that resulted in the deaths of two members of his team.

He is scheduled to face Albania’s Kristian Prenga (20-1, 20 KOs) on July 25 in Riyadh, with a fight against Fury expected to follow if both sides complete their upcoming bouts.
