One week online auction ends with a handsome price tag with funds going to Dementia Australia.
An autographed Neighbours portrait of Mrs Mangel, played by legendary Vivean Gray, has sold for $19,500.
Donated by actor Annie Jones, the funds from the online auction will go towards Dementia Australia.
The original painting of the character was depicted in the soap as being painted by Helen Daniels (Anne Haddy) who disliked her nosy neighbour. In reality it was the work of the Art Department, but it was so striking it was later replicated in this second version.
It was autographed on the rear by Annie Jones, Stefan Dennis, Jackie Woodburne, Alan Fletcher and Rebekah Elmaloglou and more.
Dr Kaele Stokes, Executive Director Services, Engagement and Research, Dementia Australia, said, “For many Australians and fans around the world, Neighbours was a part of daily life for decades.
“Now, fans can own an iconic piece of the show’s history while helping to support families impacted by dementia, which is the leading cause of death in Australia.
“Thank you to Neighbours actor Annie Jones who generously donated the piece to raise funds in honour of her Mum who lived with dementia.”
