The Fiji Rugby Union has announced the appointment of Andrew Tui Osborne as the new Head Coach of the SportsWorld Fijian Under 20 side, following a competitive recruitment process.
Osborne was selected over a strong field of applicants who declared their interest in the position. However, the selection committee identified Osborne as the perfect fit for the role, tasking him with leading the national Under 20 side to the Junior World Cup and beyond.
Currently serving as Director of Rugby and Head Coach at College Station in Texas, USA, Osborne brings a wealth of international coaching experience to the role. His responsibilities in the United States have included leading a rugby program that enhances training and talent development for national and international players, implementing data-driven coaching to improve team dynamics and player performance, and coordinating tactical strategies to drive continuous improvement and competitive standards.
He also mentors players through personalised plans, recruits top rugby talent, generates revenue through strategic fundraising events, and pioneers advanced coaching techniques and tactical frameworks. Additionally, Osborne orchestrates cross-functional coaching initiatives, aligning staff expertise with player development goals to maximise team potential.
The newly appointed Head Coach expressed his deep gratitude for the chance to return to his Fijian roots and contribute to the national rugby pathway.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as Head Coach of the Fiji U20s and be part of the national pathway,” said Osborne.
“As a Fijian who has spent the past 14+ years coaching and developing players in the U.S. collegiate and professional systems, I’ve been fortunate to learn from structured environments focused on long-term growth and player development.”
“My focus during this term is to support and strengthen the pathway by helping align standards from grassroots to elite levels, while creating an environment that prepares our young players for the demands of international rugby.”
Osborne emphasized his desire to give back to Fijian rugby.
“I hope to give back by sharing what I’ve learned, contributing to a strong team culture, and helping our players grow both on and off the field in a way that reflects the pride of Fiji Rugby,” he added.
Fiji Rugby General Manager of High Performance, Mr. Naca Cawanibuka, welcomed the appointment and expressed confidence in Osborne’s ability to elevate the Under 20 program.

His exposure to elite athlete preparation, coaching methodology, and performance systems across two decades makes him ideally placed to develop our U20 players and equip them for international competition.”

As a Fijian with deep roots in the game, Osborne is expected to bring both cultural connection and professional rigor to the U20 program. His role will focus on preparing the squad for upcoming international competitions while aligning with FRU’s broader high-performance strategy — developing technically proficient, physically conditioned, and mentally resilient athletes ready to transition into senior national programs – Fiji 7s, Fijian Drua and Flying Fijians, and overseas professional contracts.
Fiji has been drawn in Pool D at the World Rugby Junior World Cup, which will be hosted in Georgia. The SportsWorld Fijian Under 20s are scheduled to play the following pool matches:
June 28th Fiji vs France
July 2nd Fiji vs Australia
July 8th Fiji vs Spain
Osborne will now begin preparations with the squad ahead of the tournament, with further announcements regarding training camps and final selections to follow in the coming weeks.
