Paul Hogan has sparked concern after being spotted running errands in Los Angeles in the wake of his son’s arrest on Friday.
In photographs obtained by California Post, the Crocodile Dundee legend appeared downcast and frail just hours after police were called to his Venice Beach home in response to a domestic disturbance.
Following the call out, Hogan’s 27-year-old son Chance was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and later charged, with bail being set at $27,770.
It is not known if the incident involved Hogan, New York Post reports, however an unknown female was spotted at the scene writing down information for law enforcement.
Now, Woman’s Day has reported that the Aussie icon has reached his tether and is putting pressure on his ex-wife and former co-star Linda Kozlowski to take the reins of the situation.
“Paul’s tired. At 86 he just doesn’t need to be dealing with this,” a well-placed source told the publication.
“As a dad, it’s devastating – unless Chance is cleared or the charges are dropped, it’s going to stay on his record forever,” they added.
The insider revealed that Hogan is “beating himself up” over his son’s crisis and feels he has failed him.
However, the Hogan family are said to be concerned about the 86-year-old’s fragile health and “will never forgive Chance” if the situation takes a toll on his wellbeing.
“Paul’s just shattered by all this,” the insider revealed.
In January last year, Chance set off alarm bells after drunkenly begging someone to “please kill me” in a concerning social media post.
He slurred his words as he made the alarming request in an Instagram video, which showed him drinking wine from a glass in public while the US sitcom Fat Albert played on his laptop.
“This is my life. This is what it’s been reduced to,” he said before leaning in closer.
“Please. Please kill me. I’m begging you.”
Hogan has previously reflected on the media attention he and his family have received over the years in an interview with Channel Seven’s Sally Bowrey.
“I get a bit annoyed with the press I get off the rags from my ‘troubled son’ Chance,” he said.
“He’s pretty clever, because he knows… there’s this paparazzi guy who lives down our street, and he plays it up. But he’s actually a hero.”
