Elise Elliott will be going from TV presenter to nurse in the coming weeks when husband Tom undergoes a second hip replacement.

3AW broadcaster Elliott had a week off air in March when he underwent the first surgery.

“He had one (operation) six weeks ago and he’ll have another one in four to five weeks,’’ Elise said.

“He’ll be the bionic man.

“He’s given up the surfboard for now but the recovery has been going well.”

Tom was hacked on X while he was on leave but is now back on track.

One person who won’t be filling in for him is Tony Jones, the Channel 9 sport newsreader who marked 40 years at the network this week.

Jones who had a long stint filling in over the summer and survey breaks, says he needs a break from the dual roles.

“After last year’s grand final Tom took a week off and by the Tuesday I started clock watching,’’ Jones said.

“I love radio and I’ll still contribute but I need to take the summer off.”

Meanwhile Elise is making waves in the automotive world.

She will host an upcoming all women’s show called Lady Torque alongside Tegan Martin for 7mate and in between will hit the water at Urbnsurf with her daughter Ava.

She is the voice for the facility in Tullamarine where she learnt to ride a board.

“My dream Mother’s Day is a surf with my girl, and a drive in my 68 Mustang,’’ Elise said.

“Surfing brings me joy and so do cars. This show is like Top Gear and the first of its kind for women.”
