V8 engines are set to return to F1: the decision looks inevitable — it’s just a case of when.
Mark Hughes reveals the overwhelming levels of support in the F1 paddock to scrap the current V6 hybrid power units and bring back V8s for the first time in over a decade.
The only question is when it’s going to happen, with Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of racing’s governing body, the FIA, pledging to bring the power units in by 2031 at the latest, while manufacturers want to ensure they get their development money’s-worth from the current power units.
