Jett Johnson set to make comeback race in Speedway following two year break

THIRD-GENERATION racer Jett Johnson is set to step back behind the wheel, but with a twist, when he makes his speedway debut next weekend.

Johnson is set to get behind the wheel of a Mircrosprint at Gatton’s Lockyer Valley Speedway on Saturday, May 16th, a regional venue about an hour to the west of Brisbane that has grown popular in recent times following the closure of Archerfield Speedway.

For the occasion, he will drive the Baker Racing machine, aptly numbered Q17.

Johnson stepped away from the sport in June 2024.

Prior to that, he had raced extensively in Super2, Super3, Trans Ams and Hyundai Excels.

He won the 2022 TA2 Muscle Car Series national title.

It’s not the first time a multi-generation racer has sampled a Microsprint.

Last year at The Bend 500 temporary speedway event, Tabitha Ambrose made a cameo appearance in the category.
