The Pittsburgh Steelers‘ situation with Aaron Rodgers has been interesting, to say the least. Some have speculated that the two sides have had a secret agreement in place, but one prominent insider dismissed that idea.
Speaking with Kyle Brandt of Good Morning Football, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shot down any rumors of a “secret” deal or “private agreement” between the Steelers and Rodgers.

“My sense is Rodgers assumed he was going to be back,” Rapoport said. “The Steelers have assumed he’s going to be back. I don’t know if there’s an agreement. … I don’t get the sense there was like a private agreement. I think it was more like, ‘Trust this process.’ It was good last year for him. It was good last year for us.”
Rapoport also said he agrees that the Steelers may have felt there was a “very good chance” Rodgers would be their starting quarterback in 2026, but that you never know for certain with Rodgers.
With Rodgers set to visit with the Steelers over the next few days, there’s a very real possibility he finally signs on the dotted line and puts the noise to bed, much to the delight of fans fed up with the waiting game.
