Natalie Barr was reduced to tears on Friday morning after an emotional Mother’s Day segment featured a moving message from her mum.
The Sunrise star, 58, alongside her co-host Matt Shirvington, newsreader David Woiwod and weatherman Sam Mac, watched on as a series of interviews with their respective mothers played on the screen.
Barr’s mother Julie revealed what the hardest part of motherhood is, a moment that pulled at her daughter’s heartstrings.
“I think it’s when everybody grows up and moves away, as you’re finding out now,” she said, hinting at Barr’s empty nest after her sons Lachlan, 23, and Hunter, 19, recently left home.
Barr, tearing up at the admission, replied: “Yeah, I don’t think many people talk about when they move away.”
The waterworks continued as Barr asked her mum what the one thing is she “hoped I never stop doing”.
“Never stop being a lovely mother, a loving mother, and a loving wife,” she told her daughter.

“Thank you, that’s really nice. I didn’t expect you to say that,” Barr confessed while teary-eyed.
“Didn’t you, though? You’d be surprised what your mother will say,” Julie shared.
As the camera cut back to the studio, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room as Barr and Shirvington were both overcome with emotion.
“Wow. If we weren’t crying before, we’re crying now. Love you mum,” Shirvo added.
Barr chimed in: “Thank you to our mums, that was gorgeous.”
In a moment of comedic relief, Shirvington asked: “Tissues please, anyone?” before dashing off set to get some for his colleagues.
Mother’s Day this year falls on Sunday, May 10.
