Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc will skip Australia’s white ball tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh while numerous other Indian Premier League players have been chosen for the trip that also features a call-up for Victorian teenager Ollie Peake.

Captain Mitchell Marsh, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis and Matt Short will all depart the IPL before its conclusion to play in the ODI matches against Pakistan, which are followed by three ODIs and three T20s in Bangladesh.

Travis Head, Cooper Connolly and Tim David will also be part of the Bangladesh leg of the trip after the IPL concludes.

However, Cummins, Hazlewood and Starc will not be part of the trip at all, which serves as the start of the buildup to next year’s ODI World Cup in South Africa. This masthead reported the monster three-year deal that has been offered to Cummins to be contracted by CA until 2029.

Steve Smith is also absent from the selected squads, while Glenn Maxwell was not chosen as expected after he lost his Cricket Australia contract. Smith and Maxwell both have deals in the US-based Major League Cricket T20 competition that clashes with the tour.

Peake, 19, who has long been flagged as a player of major interest to the national selectors, will be part of the squad in Pakistan after going to Sri Lanka last year as a development player.

He has made 147 runs at 36.75 and a strike rate of 112.21 in six domestic 50-over games so far, while returning 520 runs at 26 from 13 first-class appearances.

South Australian allrounder Liam Scott and NSW batter Joel Davies will also make their first squad appearances for Australia.
