The Pirates schedule FBS opponents in each of the next three seasons.

HAMPTON, Va. — Hampton University football is set to make history over the next three seasons. Director of Athletics Anthony D. Henderson Sr. announced Wednesday that the Pirates have secured their first-ever games against Power 4 opponents, along with an in-state FBS rivalry matchup.

In 2026, Hampton will travel to College Park, Md., to face Maryland of the Big Ten Conference on Sept. 5 at SECU Stadium. The following year, the Pirates will head to Atlanta for an Oct. 9 showdown against Georgia Tech of the Atlantic Coast Conference at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Grant Field.

The historic scheduling stretch wraps up on Sept. 16, 2028, when Hampton takes on Old Dominion at Norfolk’s S.B. Ballard Stadium. The two schools, separated by nearly 14 miles, have met six times between 2010 and 2021. The Monarchs moved from the FCS to the FBS ranks in 2013.

Hampton’s slate marks a major step forward for the program as it tests itself against some of college football’s highest levels of competition.
