Mimi Becker and Josh Bavas head to London for Nine News in coming months.

Nine News has appointed Mimi Becker and Josh Bavas to its London bureau replacing Edward Godfrey and Jess Millward.

In a note to staff Hugh Nailon, National News Director, said, “Mimi Becker is a brilliant and versatile reporter who has been with Nine since the start of her career in 2014. Over more than a decade, there are not too many locations Mim hasn’t called home! She started as a chase producer in the Sydney newsroom, learning the craft from the ground up. From there, she was selected to be one of Nine’s inaugural Regional News reporters, based in the Riverina. From there she went to her first metro market in Adelaide, before moving to Melbourne for an award-winning stint at A Current Affair, and since 2021 she has been an integral member of the GTV Newsroom. Besides being the consummate on-air professional, Mim is also a highly valued team player, pitching in everywhere from the COS Desk, to the Prod Desk, and occasional weekend weather presenting.

“Josh Bavas is currently a senior reporter in our QTQ Newsroom and brings nearly 20 years of experience to our London team. A proud Queenslander and graduate of QUT, Josh commenced his career with a Cadetship at the ABC. This morphed into a successful decade-long run with our national broadcaster, including roles as State Political Reporter, with the ABC’s investigative team and as a regular correspondent in New Zealand. Josh joined Nine in 2021, and has since flourished with FOI-driven exclusives, social justice investigations, and as part of our team covering the Paris Olympics. At both the ABC and at Nine Josh has been recognised by his peers with Clarion Awards for his journalism.”

Both appointments are for two years.

Mimi Becker will commence in October followed by Josh Bavas in December, working under Liz Trethowan.

Both Edward Godfrey and Jess Millward will return to Australia later this year.
