It was a positive weekend overall for Trinity sport, with teams recording a 58% win rate across fixtures. Most matches were played against St Aloysius’, while Rugby and AFL teams also faced Shore, Riverview and Waverley, where results proved more challenging.
Chess opened the weekend on Friday night with a strong showing in the second round of the Junior Chess League. Both the Intermediate and Junior teams recorded wins against Canterbury Boys High, while the Seniors drew their match.
In AFL, results were mixed. The Year 7/8 team recorded a notable win against Waverley, continuing a strong pattern of performances in the younger age groups.
Football enjoyed a solid round against St Aloysius’. Although the 1st XI went down 2–3, the 2nd XI secured a 2–1 victory. All Year 7 teams playing St Aloysius’ recorded wins, collectively scoring 36 goals while conceding just four — a particularly strong result across the age group.
Rugby teams faced Shore and finished the round with a lower overall win percentage. That said, there were positive performances deeper in the programme, with the 3rd XV, 15B, 13B and 13C teams all recording wins. The 4th XV also celebrated their first win of the season against Riverview.
Tennis delivered one of the standout performances of the weekend. Trinity recorded victories in all Open and Year 8 teams, while all ‘A’ teams also enjoyed scoreboard success. Both the 1st and 2nd IV recorded memorable wins over St Aloysius’, and Jack Brown’s 6–0 singles win in 10A proved decisive in a closely contested team match.
In Volleyball, Trinity recorded strong results against St Aloysius’, winning six of seven matches. The Open teams each secured wins, with Ryan Le impressive in the 1st VI, while Nathan Zhang led the 14As to a confident 3–0 victory.
At the King’s Cross Country Invitational, Trinity performed well across all age groups. The Opens and Under 16 teams both finished third overall and placed first among CAS schools, while the Under 14s finished fifth and second among CAS. Individual highlights included Kobe Stewart winning the Opens race, Nathan Jones claiming first place in the Intermediates by a clear margin, and Alexander Miller finishing third in the Juniors.
In Debating, the Senior A team concluded their ISDA season with a narrow loss in the Octos Final, while the 9A and 7A teams opened their SDC campaigns with wins over Riverview and Kambala respectively.
