Dubai Basketball is finalizing agreements with the EuroLeague Best Defender Alpha Diallo and breakout rookie Mamadi Diakite.
Diallo, a 28-year-old 2.01-meter forward, was named the EuroLeague Best Defensive Player this season after averaging 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 13.6 PIR in 28 minutes per game.
He spent all five of his EuroLeague seasons with AS Monaco Basket, developing into one of the competition’s top two-way forwards.
Diakite, a 29-year-old 2.06-meter center from Guinea, is coming off a strong rookie EuroLeague campaign with Baskonia.
He averaged 8.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.7 steals, 1.2 blocks, and 10.1 PIR in 19 minutes per game.
However, his rise accelerated dramatically during the final stretch of the season, when he emerged as one of the league’s most impactful centers.
Over the last third of the EuroLeague campaign, Diakite averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 blocks in 26 minutes while shooting 71% on 2-pointers, 39% from three, and 89% from the free-throw line.
Diakite delivered his best performance of the season against Dubai in March, posting career-highs of 27 points, 12 rebounds, and a 37 PIR.
Before arriving in Europe, Diakite appeared in 55 NBA games, playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, and New York Knicks, averaging 3.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in limited action.
