Wet conditions will persist along the eastern seaboard of Australia on Thursday, while the south stays warm and dry and the west cools.
Australia’s north, meanwhile, is facing the prospect of showers, with light rain expected in the Top End.
In the west, a cool change is expected following several days of bright, warm weather.
“The wet weather looks to continue on the east coast, but we’ve also got a cool change on the way for the southwest corner, bringing a few showers into that region too as cloud builds over the outback ahead of our north-west cloud band later this week,” Sky News Senior Meteorologist Rob Sharpe said.
“For the east coast, again, a few more showers likely on the way through the Brisbane area, particularly through the morning – top of 24C (forecast).
“Just like in Sydney, the morning and the middle of the day are the most likely times to see that wet weather feeding through.”
Perth will cool off with a few light showers, while tropical Queensland sees some rain and wet weather persists along the eastern seaboard.
“Further south, yet another dry and warmer than usual day for Melbourne. The chance of a touch of fog yet again in the morning,” Sharpe added.
“In Adelaide, warmer than usual and partly cloudy with a top of 24C.
“For the west coast, finally cooler weather and even the chance of a couple of showers moving through for the Perth region, but I wouldn’t expect it to be overly wet.
“Elsewhere, a few showers for tropical Queensland and a chance for the central coastlines as we continue to see wet weather along the eastern seaboard, with the focus being the NSW north coast.”
Forecasts across the nation
Sydney is in for a partly cloudy Thursday, with a very high chance of showers and a high of 22C.
Melbourne, though, should see a mostly sunny day despite the chance of morning fog. A top of 22C is expected in Victoria’s capital.
Brisbane residents are facing a very high chance of showers alongside a high of 24C.
Perth is also in for a grey Thursday, with showers expected, most likely in the morning and afternoon, and a top of only 20C.
Adelaide should see slightly better conditions, with a partly cloudy day and possible showers, most likely in the morning and afternoon, expected. A high of 24C is forecast for South Australia’s capital.
Canberra locals are facing a similar forecast, with a slight chance of a shower, most likely in the late morning and afternoon, and a top of 19C expected.
Hobart, though, will see a sunny day on Thursday, with a high of 19C.
Darwin will also see bright and clear skies, with a top of 33C forecast.
