Uno-X Mobility saw Soren Waerenskjold thrive at the Tour de France’s sprints and the Norwegian rider has put in a strong display today at the Tour of Denmark to win stage 2, with Mads Pedersen and Jasper Philipsen not able to contest for the victory.

The second stage of the race was pan-flat and this time around there was no way to prevent a bunch sprint, unless a breakaway was to surprise on the day. Rasmus Bogh Wallin, Mattias Malmberg, Mads Andersen, Magnus Machhold, Anton Muller, Boas Lysgaard and Sebastian Nielsen formed the front group, controlled mostly by Lidl-Trek and Alpecin-Deceuninck.

The front group carried some serious speed but the peloton wasn’t caught out of attention. The pace was high for both groups throughout the day and the catch wasn’t easy, but it was ultimately completed inside the final kilometers. Wallin and Malmberg were caught with just over 2 kilometers to go, opening way for a bunch sprint which did not feature race leader Mads Pedersen’s leadout man Ryan Gibbons who crashed in the final minutes of the race.

There was a late attempt to surprise and an early sprint from Nils Eekhoff who tried to take a shocking win, but Uno-X Mobility delivered an ideal leadout and Soren Waerenskjold was able to beat the competition after launching his sprint to the line. Steffen de Schuyteneer sprinted to second on the day followed by Axel Zingle.
