Australian actress Harriet Dyer has publicly slammed the producers of The Devil Wears Prada, calling the edit for her real-life husband’s character “brutal”.
Dyer’s husband, Patrick Brammall plays Peter in the film, the love interest of Anne Hathaway’s character, Andy.
The character has received widespread criticism, with many comparing him to Andy’s boyfriend in the original film who has become a long running joke within pop culture over the last two decades.
Dyer’s remarks came after she stumbled across a Cosmo article titled: “Andy’s one-dimensional boyfriend in ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ is an insult to single women everywhere”.
“Peter, played by Patrick Brammall, is as one-dimensional as they come,” the journalist remarked, theorising that instead of risking a repeat of the love interest becoming the villain like in the first film, “it seems like the creators of the sequel decided to swap Nate for a paper-thin man whose sole function is to remind us that employed, single men do exist.”
Brammall’s wife and Colin From Accounts co-creator, Dyer, rushed to the comments to defend her real-life husband and slam the movie’s “brutal” edit of his character.
“Mean post. They cut scenes out. The edit is brutal,” Dyer insisted. “I liked him. And I married him,” she said.
Her comments come after Dyer reacted to footage of her husband calling his The Devil Wears Prada 2, co-star Anne Hathaway, the “world’s most beautiful”.

In a playful video montage shared on Instagram, the actress began the video with a clip of Brammall on the red carpet gushing about his co-star while promoting their new film.
“Playing someone who has fallen in love with Anne Hathaway? Tough gig. Tough gig,” the 50-year-old said of playing her love interest in the highly anticipated sequel.
“I mean the world’s most beautiful person, according to People magazine – and everybody in here,” the reporter chimed in, to which Brammall agreed, “And me too!”
Footage then shows Dyer looking gobsmacked at her husband’s comments as she uttered, “Whaaaaat?”
A hilarious video montage of the couple’s time together then flashes in the clip backed by Eric Clapton’s heart-wrenching Tears in Heaven, in which it shows milestone moments from their 2021 wedding in Florida to becoming parents to their two daughters, Joni and Mabel.
The music and montage comes to an abrupt halt as recent footage of Hathaway, 43, also gushing about Brammall appears on screen.
Images of Dyer looking devastated while driving in her car and brushing her teeth are interlaced in the footage, making the video that much more comical.
