Channel 10 has denied I‘m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is getting axed.

The Robert Irwin and Julia Morris-hosted program typically airs in January and sees celebrities head into the jungle to face terrifying challenges and win $100,000 for their chosen charity.

Several media reports erupted on Thursday that, after 12 seasons, it was finally getting the chop, leaving production network ITV scrambling to find a new home for the 2027 season.

But a spokesperson for Channel 10 has told Yahoo Lifestyle that no decisions have been made just yet on the program’s future.

“Decisions regarding the 2027 program schedule, including I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will be made in the coming weeks,” they said.

Season 12 of the hit show aired in January, and its opening episode had its biggest audience since 2022.

The episode finished first in its timeslot, averaging 925,000 total national viewers.

Its streaming audience also rose 33 per cent year-on-year, according to TV Blackbox. However, the finale only drew in 571,000 viewers.

I’m A Celeb is not a cheap production to bring to the small screen.

In addition to forking out $100,000 in prize money, the celebrities also get five- to six-figure salaries each to appear on the program.

The whole show is also filmed in South Africa, meaning the production company has to have a lot of equipment and staff on hand to bring it to life.

In a bid to make the process smoother this season, the whole show was pre-recorded for the 2026 season.

“The live show can be quite a high-level cluster of full-brain explosion,” Julia told Yahoo Lifestyle ahead of the 2026 season airing.

“I think having the luxury of a whisper of more time gave us a chance to really like work on some jokes and work on some physical comedy.”

This season saw Triple J star Concetta Caristo win the competition, with Luke Bateman, Brady Bunch star Gary Sweet, supermodel Rachel Hunter, singer Deni Hines, and Mia Fevola also competing.

Abbie Chatfield, Frankie Muniz and Skye Wheatley have all been past participants.
