The 117-113 Game 5 overtime win for the Cleveland Cavaliers over the Detroit Pistons came with much controversy. Largely due to what many believed was a bogus no-call on Cavs’ center Jarrett Allen for allegedly tripping/fouling Pistons’ forward Ausar Thompson in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter, which sent the game to overtime. On Thursday, the NBA shared the latest L2M report, and it turns out the league sides with Allen.

Reports indicate that officials made the correct decision not to call a foul on Allen at the end of regulation of Game 5, according to insider Brett Siegel. While Pistons fans were up in arms, it turns out the referees got this one right.

“The NBA says in the L2M report that there was no foul against Ausar Thompson by Jarrett Allen at the end of regulation in Game 5,” reported Siegel.

In the NBA’s L2M Report stated that both Allen and Thompson were both in the right to step in the same spot while chasing after the loose ball. The league claims that, while Ausar Thompson fell to the ground, both players lost their balance on the play, making it a clean attempt to gain possession of the ball from both players.

“Allen and Thompson legally step to the same spot while pursuing the loose ball [before either player has possession], and both lose their balance from the marginal contact,” said the L2M report.

With the league finalizing its decision on the matter, the Cavs and Pistons will move on and focus on Game 6. Cleveland needs one more win to clinch the series after taking a 3-2 lead on Wednesday night. The next contest is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. EST and will take place in Cleveland.
